INNIHALD MÖPPU Nr. 1 (A - E)

Ljósrit af stjörnumerktum greinum er að finna í 4 svörtum möppum sem geymdar eru í neðstu hillu f. nemendur í almennri bókmenntafræði á efstu hæð Þjóðarbókhlöðu. Greinar með rauðri stjörnu bættust við í möppurnar þann 4. apríl.

Ykkur er velkomið að taka ljósrit af þeim en þið VERÐIÐ VINSAMLEGAST að skila frumritinu aftur á sinn stað í hillunni. Greinarnar eru færðar inn skv. reglum MLA (Modern Language Association, kallast einnig „Chicago Style“).

Útdráttur: Joan Aiken er mjög þekktur rithöfundur sem hefur skrifað fjölmargar sögulegar skáldsögur. Hér fjallar hún um vanda höfunda að „túlka“ fortíðina í barnabókum, og ástæðuna fyrir því að vandlega verður að fara með heimildaleit. Hún hefur m.a. skrifað þáttaröð fyrir BBC og minnist þess hversu auðveldlega börn geta séð mistök höfundar.

Útdráttur: Avery talar um muninn á breskum og bandarískum barnabókum frá 19. öld, hversu sjálfstæð bandaríska stúlkan er t.d. í samanburði við þá bresku. Einnig muninn varðandi þjóðfélagsstöðu, þar sem börn í bandarískum bókum geta flust upp eða niður á við í stiganum, en þau bresku eru föst. Fjallar aðeins um Little Women, Önnu í Grænuhlíð og Pollýönnu.

Bottigheimer talar um ævintýri, í Frakklandi (aðallega Perrault), í Þýzkalandi (aðallega Grimms-bræður), á Bretlandi (mest þýðingar og umræður), og smávegis um Bandaríkin, Ítalíu, Spán og Portúgal. Ræðir lesendahóp og einnig þjóðsögur. Löng heimildaskrá.

*Broderick, Kirsten. "Past and Present: The Uses of History in Children´S Fiction." Papers: Explorations into Children´s Literature 6.3 (1996): 13-21.

Útdráttur: Broderick fjallar aðallega um tvær bækur, Come Lucky April eftir Jean Ure og Truckers (og svolítið um Diggers) eftir Terry Pratchett. Hún skoðar hvernig höfundarnir nýta sér sögu til að skapa bækurnar. Góð grein fyrir þá sem eru að skrifa um sögulegar skáldsögur, og líka fyrir aðdáendur Terry Pratchett.

Útdráttur: Hjónin hafa sérhæft sig í að skrifa barnabækur um sögulega atburði. Þau segja frá vinnubrögðum sínum, aðallega varðandi bókaflokk sem kallast My First Reference Library. Ágæt grein fyrir þá sem hyggjast skrifa fræðsluefni fyrir börn eða eru að pæla í hvernig „dumbing down“ á fræðsluefni fyrir börn fer fram (og þá er ég ekki að tala um neikvæða merkingu). Þau ræða erfiðleika, t.d. hvernig forðast á að mismuna kynjum.

Útdráttur: Anthony Browne er sennilega einn besti höfundur myndabóka fyrir börn í heiminum í dag, enda margverðlaunaður. Hér talar hann um hvernig hann fer að því að skapa myndabækur, hvað gefur honum hugmyndir og á hvaða hátt hann vinnur úr þeim. Ákaflega góð grein, sérstaklega fyrir þá sem eru að kynna sér greiningu á myndabókum fyrir börn. Mikið af myndum og dæmum.

*Butts, Dennis. "The Adventure Story." Stories and Society: Children's Literature in Its Social Context. Ed. Dennis .Butts. Basingstoke: Macmillan, 1992. 65-83.

*Ewers, Hans Heino, and J. D. (transl.) Stahl. "The Limits of Literary Criticism of Children's and Young Adult's Literature." The Lion and the Unicorn 19.1 (1995): 77-94.

Útdráttur: Hans-Heino finnst að umræður um barnabókagagnrýni hafi farið í hring. Hann talar um það sem hann kallar „increasing literariness" barna- og unglingabóka og heldur því fram að við verðum að finna ný verkfæri, ný gildi, til að meta barnabækur út frá. Hann lítur á kenningar Romans Jakobson um hvað séu þjóðsögur og hvað bókmenntir. Hann stingur upp á því að greinin kallist „written folklore“ og rökstyður þá skoðun vel.
